[jdom-interest] XMLOutputter seems to take ages...

Hi folks,

Does anyone know why XMLOutputter seems to take an age, in excess of 200
milliseconds to output a relatively small Element tree?

I have used a BufferedOutputStream as well and it still seems to take an
age...

Does anyone have any alternatives?  Anyone know why it seems to be slow?
Anyone know how I can speed it up?

BTW, my element tree contains no attributes and is very shallow, i.e. the
children only go down about 3 or 4 levels max.

Any information would be useful...
