[jdom-interest] Question about Sun's XML Pack and JDom

I just downloaded Sun's XML "Winter Pack" and I have a general
question. Since JDOM is a JSR where exactly does it fit in w/ the
technologies that they offer, the reason I ask is because many of the
examples/tutorials seem to have like:

http://java.sun.com/xml/jaxp/dist/1.1/docs/tutorial/index.html

Obviously make no mention of JDom for reasons known but wouldn't alot of
these low-level examples and tutorials need to change if JDom became
part of this pack? I dunno I end up using JDom mostly because it
completely bypasses the basic known facts of SAX and DOM in "how XML
reading/writing works" and is simple to use but many of the tutorials
fail to mention it as one of the APIs for something that is suppose to
be JSR I would think that's kinda big.

Or is it more that JDom is an extension of what Sun "offers"? What is
the big picture?
